Le Méridien Tampa Engagement Session | Romantic Downtown Tampa Engagement Photos
Le Méridien Tampa is a beautiful location for Tampa Engagement photos. Its historic charm and elegant interior make it a great choice for couples looking for something different. Between the classic architecture, cozy lounge spaces, and vintage details throughout the hotel, there are plenty of opportunities to create timeless images.
I recently had the opportunity to photograph this amazing couple at Le Méridien Tampa, and from the moment we met, I knew it was going to be a great session. They were fun, relaxed, and ready to enjoy the experience, which always leads to the most authentic photographs.
Planning an Engagement Session at Le Méridien Tampa
If you're considering having your engagement photos taken at Le Méridien Tampa, there's one important thing to know before booking. The hotel currently requires a $250 photography fee and reservations must be made in advance. It's similar to other sought after Tampa locations like Oxford Exchange, where advance planning and a fee is also required.
Because I had never photographed inside Le Méridien before, I arrived about 45 minutes early to explore the property and find the best lighting and locations. Walking through the hotel, I immediately admired its character. The historic architecture, beautiful natural light, elegant lounge spaces, and the vintage gold elevator made it feel very well designed for photography.
A Relaxed and Fun Engagement Session
One of the biggest concerns couples tell me before a session is that they don't know how to pose. Before I even had the chance to reassure them, they laughed and said, "We're definitely going to need help posing."
I smiled and told them, "That's exactly why I'm here."
My goal is always to make couples feel comfortable instead of worrying about what to do with their hands or where to look. Throughout the entire session I guided them naturally so nothing ever felt forced or awkward.
We started near the large windows by the elevator where the natural light was absolutely beautiful. From there we moved over to the historic elevator itself. Trying to capture the perfect photo while making sure the doors didn't close and send someone to another floor made for some funny moments that had all of us laughing.
Cocktails, Conversation, and Natural Moments
Next we headed into the hotel's beautiful bar and lounge area. Sometimes grabbing a drink during an engagement session helps couples relax a little more and gives them something natural to interact with.
The bride to be wanted a mimosa, and after they insisted on buying me a drink too, I said that I'd order an espresso martini because it would probably look better in the photos. She loved the idea, so my drink quickly became one of our props during the session.
Some of my favorite images from the entire day ended up being taken on the cozy couches in the lounge. The atmosphere inside Le Méridien creates such an intimate and timeless feel that the photographs almost looked like scenes from a movie.
The Funniest Moment of the Day
One photo the couple really wanted to recreate came from Pinterest using one of the hotel's vintage luggage carts.
While we were setting everything up, she asked her fiancé to squeeze between the cart bars. He confidently tried, quickly realized it wasn't nearly as easy as he expected, and within seconds all three of us were laughing so hard we had to catch our breath.
Thankfully I never stopped taking photos.
Those genuine, unscripted moments often become the images couples treasure most because they capture real personalities and real memories instead of perfect poses.
Finishing Outside the Historic Hotel
We wrapped up the session outside the front entrance of Le Méridien. We intentionally saved the outdoor portraits for the end so they wouldn't get too hot in the Florida summer heat and be overheated for the rest of the session.
The historic exterior of the building provided the perfect finishing backdrop and gave us a nice addition to the elegant indoor portraits.
After the session ended, we stayed inside talking for nearly another hour. I loved getting to hear more about their wedding plans and learning more about their story. Those conversations are one of my favorite parts of being a wedding photographer because every couple is completely unique.
